HUNGRY locals and passing cyclists in Kington St Michael are breathing a sigh of relief that their cafe has reopened.

The popular spot, behind the village’s working mens’ club is back - and under new management.

Lisa Tuck has taken over and stepped up from years of baking cakes at home for people to running the cafe with her neighbour, chef Gavin Aplin who is rustling up a specials menu each day.

Lisa said she decided to give the cafe a go as her youngest child is about to head off to the village school.

"I used to supply cakes to the cafe anyway, so I thought I needed something to do, and it just came up at the right time," she said.

The previous owner, Kirsty Clark stepped down with lockdown. Now Lisa has the kids trying out the menu.

"They've been great and really enjoy it here." she said. "They have helped decorate and are already sampling to goods. but they have their school dinner at school."

She already has a number one fan in her mum Kath.

“I’ve had people say to me they are so pleased it is open again,” said Kath, from Scunthorpe. “And I’ve been in for breakfast which was just wonderful - I’d go again - and that’s not me being biased!”

They have also got the cycling groups getting the word out on their WhatsApp groups for them too.
